Gabriela Martinez Celaya is a filmmaker and director with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she has honed her storytelling and production skills since 2020. Growing up between South Florida, Los Angeles, and New York, Gabriela’s art reflects themes of movement and self-discovery, drawing influence from her father, a Cuban immigrant and artist. Her personal experiences with frequent relocations have shaped her unique perspective on finding a sense of home within oneself.
As a director, Gabriela has led over 28 projects, including short films, music videos, stage productions, and promotional content. Her notable works, such as The Series (2024), Burn That Bee (2023), and Prom 1986 (2022), showcase her focus on character-driven storytelling and her interest in experimental and whimsical elements. Gabriela's creative voice blends a rich narrative style with themes of identity and displacement.
Gabriela’s work has been recognized in multiple exhibitions, including the Doheny Library and Monterey Museum of Art. Her short film stills were published in The Fire of Heaven by Hatje Cantz, and she has received nominations for Best Young Female Filmmaker and Best Original Score at the Indie Short Fest. Her films have garnered awards at various festivals, earning her Platinum, Finalist, and Semi-Finalist titles.
Her industry experience includes roles as a Filmmaker Relations Coordinator at Bentonville Film Festival, where she managed over 100 filmmakers, and as a Production Intern at Genma Pictures, working on an A24, HBO, and Elara unscripted series. Gabriela has also interned with Phoenix Pictures, provided script coverage, and assisted on high-profile sets, like HBO’s And Just Like That, gaining insight into both the creative and financial sides of production.
